These are pictures of my latest creation. It’s what is called an Amineko cat. :)

I am so out of the 20-something loop and have been since I turned 20. I ALWAYS felt out of place among my college peers, but it didn’t make me feel like an outcast. I never wanted to be like many of the people I took class with. There were few that I actually felt a connection to, but as is standard of me, I never kept that connection going. I still live in the city of my Alma Mater because K is still working toward his PhD.

Now, however, I’m considered a townie. I feel old among this crowd of teens, Freshmen. There is always that type of girl somewhere that I don’t feel a connection with, who scare me a little because they all seem very similar.

I now have a term for this. It took me forever to catch on and I finally had to Google it after hearing it a few times and wondering what it is.

This term is “basic.” I kind of had an idea what this referred to. Well, here’s an Urban dictionary version of what a “Basic Girl” is.

I am actually very glad to say that I am not “basic.”

I don’t want to stereotype or generalize any person into what I consider a group of people, but honestly, I met so many women in college who fit this mold.

In my opinion, everyone is unique, even if they are trying to do their best to “fit in” to the crowd of their choice. I have never had that inkling. I’ve always done my own thing, especially now as an adult. I just do what I want, when I want, and how I want.  Especially since beginning sertraline, I literally just couldn’t care less what others think of me :)

I actually came up with a list of things that I felt fit me uniquely and that I’m ok with.

I Am Proud Of:

  1. Being a cat mom.
  2. Speaking in my “natural” SW Indiana accent, which at times can sound uneducated, to put it bluntly.
  3. Teaching myself to crochet & to make awesome Pokemon amigurumi.
  4. My interest in learning about history.
  5. My love of reading.
  6. My interest in cleaning my car, probably this is OCD-related, but I tend to really like having a clean car.
  7. Playing PS3 and actually being good at it.
  8. Sometimes talking like my dad or brother.
  9. Having a sarcastic sense of humor like my grandpa.
  10. Knowing how to make a quilt.
  11. My interest in genealogy.
  12. Not really enjoying any type of popular music. I’d rather listen to nature sounds.
  13. Working to manage my OCD.
  14. Making a mean bowl of oatmeal ;)
  15. My knowledge of K’s culture.

I wrote this list on a sheet of paper while on break at work, so these are sporadic to say the least.

What makes you proud of being you?  I’d love to hear from you!  You can send me a message through the contact form below or post a comment to the page.

Enjoy your day everyone!
