I have been taking a bit of a break from blogging lately. I have had zero interest in writing or even turning on my laptop. I think it’s partly because of the dark days of winter and because I’ve been working a lot on my crochet. I made this afghan for my mom for Christmas. The pattern is called the Vintage Fan Ripple blanket by Marinke Slump. I followed her blog, A Creative Being, for over a year and have worked from her patterns and shared them with others throughout that time. It broke my heart when I heard she took her own life and I feel it’s such a tragedy. She was such a talented woman and her work has and will continue to inspire crocheters all over the world.
On a lighter note, I’ve gotten a new doll and I love her so much. She’s an Island Doll Forest Amy that I’ve named Lucrezia. I know this means nothing to most of you, but it is something that makes me happy. I’ve been crocheting for her. I recently made this corset and sewed the skirt for her as well.
I havne’t crocheted in awhile, so I’m happy that I’m getting back into it and improving every time I pick up my hook. It’s been really relaxing.
We’ve had a really rainy winter so far, with next to no snow and abnormally warm temperatures. It has made me realize that I kind of miss our true Indiana winters because at least the sun is out some days.
K is in Korea, so I’ve been all by myself, with Chester of course, for the past few weeks and a week and a half to come. It’s ok because I do like the alone time, but it is boring at times. Whenever it’s just me and Chester, he is so cuddly. He is always next to me:
We are enjoying New Year’s Eve together. Well, I’ve been crocheting, he’s been sitting on the couch next to me, and I’ve been watching episodes of The Office. It’s not the most exciting life, but it’s mine :)
I just wanted to update everyone on where I’ve been, in case anyone was even wondering. Hopefully I will get out of this funk and will feel motivated to start writing again.
Happy New Year everyone :)
